Monday, Oct. 31

A blood drive will take place in the west gym.

Fellowship of Christian Students meets 3:15-4 p.m. in Room 162. For students interested in building caring friendships, strengthening their faith and praying for our school. See Ms. Reimers if you have questions.

SAFE Club will host a SAFE Trick or Treat Ice Cream Social after school in the cafeteria. Grab treats and ice cream, and learn how to be a SAFE driver and passenger. Plus, sign up for a monthly drawing by pledging to always wear your seatbelt for a chance to win prizes. All are welcome.

Tuesday, Nov. 1

Sign up to have your group or class take part in Adopt-a-Family by Tuesday at this link.

Unified Varsity Bowling competes at West Ridge Lanes at 3:30 p.m. against Piper, Silver Lake and Washburn Rural.

Chesty Academy After School Tutoring takes place 3:15-5 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday in Ms. Henry’s room (Room 212).

Wrestling preseason workouts will take place 3:30-5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Meet in the West Gym Lobby. Preseason workouts continue through Oct. 28.

Track and field pre-season injury prevention workouts will be 3:30-4:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for students not participating in a fall or winter sport. Workouts continue on this schedule up to Winter Break.

An Open Mic event is planned after school in the library for anyone with a poem, song, prose piece or stand-up routine they’d like to share.

International Club meets at 3:30p.m. in Room 257.

Wednesday, Nov. 2

Schedule changed so students attend all seven hours and release at 3:10 p.m.

Black Student Union will meet in the cafeteria. Snacks will be provided.

Unity Step Team practices. The group is taking on new members. To join, sign up in Room 281.

Thursday, Nov. 3

LHS Boys and Girls Bowling will have an informational meeting for all students interested in trying out for the bowling teams after school Nov. 3 in the Learning Commons.

LHS FYI Talent Show at 7 p.m. in the LHS Auditorium. Entry to the event, sponsored by Can We Talk and Safe Club, is free. Students will be collecting non-perishable food items to support the school food pantry. 

Magic Club meets Thursday after school, 3:10-4 p.m. in Room 346. In Magic Club, where we play Magic the Gathering, as well as other trading card games like Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon.

Philosophy Club meeting at 3:15-4 p.m. in Room 211.

Friendship Bracelet Club meets 3:15-4 p.m. in the library.

Friday,  Nov. 4

Schedule changed so school releases at 1:35 p.m. following a block day schedule of hours two, four and six schedule.

Book Club meets after school in room Room 217 (Ms. Johnson’s room). For students who love to read and join others for interesting conversations about books. The meeting was moved to Friday this week because of the school schedule change.

Varsity Football competes against Derby at 7 p.m. at Derby High School.

Ultimate Frisbee Club members will meet after school to plan upcoming play. Meetings take place after school in Señora McKanna´s room, 349.

SAFE Club wants to remind you that with each mile per hour driven over the speed limit, teen crash risk increases proportionally? SAFE Club wants you to stay SAFE on the roads. Pledge today to drive safe and to always wear your seatbelt to win prizes. You can pledge twice a month at the SAFE lunch table or by scanning the QR code outside Student Services. At the Emporia State Mathematics Day on Oct. 19, the following students placed in the contest: Thomas Lushington, 18th in geometry; Shruti Mallik, eighth in algebra; Eli VandeVoort, 19th in algebra; Shruti Mallik, Brandon Parnell and Eli VandeVoort, sixth in math scramble team; Shruti Mallik, Brandon Parnell and Eli VandeVoort, third in the KME virtual escape room. David Bell also attended.

Coming up

Nov. 7 is the forms deadline for submitting winter sports forms online. All required forms are submitted at www.registermyathlete.com or RMA. Forms must be submitted and approved on RMA to participate in tryouts or practices. Winter sports are basketball, bowling, boys swim/dive and wrestling.

LHS Badminton Tournament

The Dead Week Badminton Tournament is planned for Nov. 9 after school in the main gym.
