Monday, Oct. 30

Fellowship of Christian Students meets at 7 a.m. on Mondays for Bible study and Fridays for prayer in Room 162. All students who wish to participate are welcome to attend. Also, FCS members would like to pray for you if you have needs that you would like to share. Use the QR codes posted around the building to submit your prayer requests.

Writers Club meets at 3:15 p.m. in Room 217 (Ms. Johnson’s room). Students who enjoy creative writing can come and write with others. Members will share prompts with each other, write together, and volunteers are welcome to share their work.

Pre Med Club meets at 3:15 p.m. Monday in Room 154. Snacks provided.

Tuesday, Oct. 31

Happy Halloween!

Today is the level change deadline for course changes.

Chesty’s Academy Tutoring is offered 3:15-5 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday in Room 212 (Ms. Henry’s Room) for anyone who needs help with homework after school.

Pride Club meets every Tuesday from 3:15-4:15 p.m. in room 328.

Pokemon Club meets every Tuesday from 3:15-4:15 p.m. in room 326.

Unified bowling competes in an invitational at West Ridge Lanes at 3:30 p.m.


SAFE club is celebrating Halloween with its second annual ice cream social. Join the club in the atrium for ice cream, special treats and an opportunity to pledge to wear your seatbelt and to not text and drive. Learn more about SAFE Club, teen driving safety facts and how you can win free gift cards to your favorite places to eat and shop.

Wednesday, Nov. 1

Native American Heritage Month starts today.

Book Club meets at 1:35 p.m. in Room 217 (Ms. Johnson’s room).

Françamis: The French Club meets from 1:30-2:45 p.m. in the French Room, Room 353.

The Talent Show starts at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

The Talent Show, hosted by Can We Talk, SAFE Club and Young Women of Color, will start at 7 p.m. Nov 1 in the auditorium. Come see your fellow Chesty Lions showcase their talents on stage. They will be singing, dancing, stepping and so much more. Entry is free. Club members will be collecting non-perishable food items and hygiene products to donate to the school’s Chesty P.A.W.S. closet. Support your peers and be entertained at the same time.

Thursday, Nov. 2

A pep assembly will take place in the main gym during the day. This is the assembly schedule: 

0 Hour: 7:00-7:55 a.m.

1st Hour: 8:00-9:22 a.m.

Extended Passing: 9:22-9:32 a.m.

3rd Hour: 9:32-10:26 a.m.

  • Assembly: 10:31-11:53 a.m.

5th Hour: 11:58 a.m.-1:44 p.m.

  • 1st Lunch: 11:58 a.m.-12:23 p.m.
  • 2nd lunch: 12:35-1 p.m.
  • 3rd Lunch: 1:19-1:44 p.m.

7th Hour: 1:49-3:10 p.m.

Mean Girls auditions start at 3:15 p.m. in the auditorium.

Philosophy Club meets 3:15-4:15 p.m. in Ms. Murray’s room, Room 211 to discuss mind-boggling questions and moral dilemmas — all the while in a safe and honest environment.

Meeting about going to Spain in 2025: at 6:00 pm at Free State room 306. 

They will answer questions and tell you all about the trip we’re planning to take with teachers and students from Free State to Spain in June of 2025. All are welcome! Please talk to Ms. Johnson in room 217 if you have any questions.

 

Friday, Nov. 3

Fellowship of Christian Students meets at 7 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays in Room 148. Students are invited to build caring friendships, strengthen their faith, pray for our school, and serve the community.

Mean Girls callbacks start at 3:15 p.m. in the auditorium.

The varsity football team takes on Derby on the road at 7 p.m. Go to student services for information about signing up for the spirit bus.


Saturday, Nov. 4

Girls basketball has pre-season conditioning in the main gym at 7 p.m. 

 

General Notes:

Blood drive sign ups are going on now for the Nov. 7 for the Lawrence High Blood Drive. Sign up in the cafeteria, room 141 or at https://donate.savealifenow.org/donor/schedules/sponsor_code. Use the code TPE7. The blood drive is 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Nov. 7 in the West Gym.

Winter Sports Forms: The forms deadline to sign up and submit forms online for all winter sports is Monday, Nov. 6. Forms must be submitted online at www.aktivtae.com. No forms will be accepted in person at the athletic office or at tryouts or practices to a coach. First day of tryouts and practices is Monday, Nov. 13 for Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys Swim/Dive, Boys and Girls Wrestling. Bowling tryouts will be Nov. 27.Preorder your yearbook and save. Senior yearbook ads for the class of 2024 are on sale now. While the final deadline to guarantee your spot in the yearbook is Jan. 12, you will save significantly by turning in and paying for your ad at the regular-price deadline on Nov. 10.
