The Blue Valley CAPS program and the Olathe Advanced Technical Center were built for the local high school students to go and experience how the areas they excel in tie into the real world. Students can work in auto tech, welding, web design, bioscience, and many more. At Blue Valley the students get the chance to work with real clients on projects, that could later turn into paid internships. The school works with many different companies such as Sprint and Garmin to come up with the curriculum for the students. At Olathe Tech. they focus on mostly auto collision and shop classes. Students from both schools agree that going to these schools is a wonderful experience, and think that more students need to need involved in similar programs. The Lawrence Public School district is planning on starting a program like these here in Lawrence. Although they are unsure of which classes will be provided, they do know that it will be very beneficial  to many students at Lawrence High and Freestate.
