- The Orchestra Marathon Concert will be from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. Sept. 20. The concert will raise money for their trip to Chicago later this year. To conduct the orchestra hopeful conductors will have to pay a small fee during the concert.
- Criminal Justice Day is from 9 a.m. – noon Sept. 16 on the Johnson County Community College campus. This is a free event that is open to the public. Topics covered include participation in SWAT team demonstrations and bomb disposal.
- Junior varsity football opens their season at 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 11 at home against SM South. The varsity team went 4-6 last year. Last year’s JV squad was divided between the sophomore and varsity teams.
- Girls golf takes on Free State in the first city showdown of the year. The event begins at 1 p.m. Sept. 14. The golf team took 6th at Regionals last year.
- Courageous Conversations will begin again this year on Sept. 16 in the Black Box theatre. Last year was the inaugural year of the conversations. The event is open to African-American males.
