      Photos: Undefeated Chesty Lions defeat hometown rivals

    • Seniors streamed through the LHS parking lot on Wednesday night to cheers from teachers and staff as they marked the end of a school year cut short by the coronavirus pandemic. The Celebrate the Date event took place on what was originally scheduled as the date of graduation. Graduation has been moved to July.

    • At the start of what would have been graduation week, the lights switched on at the Lawrence High School football stadium on Monday at 8:20 p.m. — or 20:20 in military time to honor the class of 2020. The lights remained on for 20 minutes. The same stadium lighting is planned for Tuesday and Wednesday.

    • Streamline strong, junior Tyler Jones explodes off the block to start off his race. This year Sunflower League was held at Shawnee Mission’s new aquatic Center.  “Competing at League was probably one of the most exciting meets for me.” Jones said, “We were in such a nice pool and the energy was crazy high.”

    • Spreading the love, junior Dylan Gillespie fist bumps Sky Wilkerson during the Unified Sports basketball game. Although Gillespie worked hard for the team, he confesses that he took a backseat to the real stars of the show. "I just gave them the ball and they did all the work," said Gillespie. "It was fun to see them all happy and have the experiences they don’t usually get to have."
