You might think you know Lawrence, but do you really? I used to think I knew this town pretty well. I was born here, I mostly grew up here, and I like to go downtown just as much as the next high school student.
I’ve come to realize, however, that there is a lot I don’t know about Lawrence. There are stores, restaurants, parks, and whole neighborhoods that I’ve never been to, some that I didn’t even know existed.
Along with my friend (and editor) Zach, I’ve decided to go to the places I’ve never been before, and chronicle the experience, atmosphere, and singularity of these locations.
I live in the country, so there are a lot of “town” things that I don’t know about. I have to drive everywhere, and that has affected my experience living in Lawrence.
Zach has lived here since second grade, so he’s just as much a local as I am, but he lives in town. He can bike almost everywhere he needs to go.
Obviously, we have very different perspectives. Lawrence is different for everyone.
Our town has a lot to offer, but it’s not always apparent. Do you want to find new places to go and learn more about Lawrence? Become a Lawrencian!
