This year’s musical, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” is going to be performed this weekend.

The storyline is based off the book How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying: The Dastard’s Guide to Fame and Fortune, written in 1952 by Shepherd Mead.

The musical is a story of a man named J. Pierrepont Finch who climbs his way up the corporate ladder from window washer to chairman of the World Wide Wicket Company using a self-titled book.

The musical has a cast full of eager students.

“They are very hardworking, while also doing an excellent job of bringing all their characters to life,” director and drama teacher Jamie Johnson said.

The musical altogether is costly and took a lot of work to build sets, acquire costumes and props while also paying for sound, musicians and licensing of the script and score.

“I feel that the musical is going to be really good,” sophomore Jared Cote, who plays Finch, said. “We have a lot of talented people in the play, and rehearsals are going really well with of course a lot of work still ahead of us, but I feel that the musical altogether will be great.”

Rehearsals are Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 6:00, where casts members practiced acting, singing and dancing.

“I like rehearsals a lot,” sophomore Jalyn Banks, actor in ensemble said. “It is a lot of work but everyone in the cast becomes like one big family and it is really cool and interesting to just work with all those people.”

The musical will be held on Friday, Jan. 27 at 7:00 pm, Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, Jan. 29 at 2:00 pm in the auditorium. Tickets cost $5.00 for students and $10.00 for adults.
