The texting abilities of each grade were put to the test in a speed competition in typing a phrase for the Budget. Freshman Macey Sutter, Sophomore Matt Mantooth, and Junior Annie Odrowski competed to decide which of these grade representatives could text the fastest.
The toughest challenge for these competitors: send a text with proper grammar, capitalization, and punctuation. When given the phrase, “You’re in the right place to enter the world of journalism at Lawrence High School. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors all are featured in its pages,” Odrowski was the victor.
With a time of 50.8 seconds, Odrowski was surprised by her own score.
“That was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I felt like there was a lot of pressure!” Odrowski said.
Her fellow competitors had a similar reaction, but Odrowski’s win is attributed to her love of texting. Odrowski, as well as second place winner, Sutter, suspect to send and receive roughly 100 texts each day.
Without the pressure of this competition, time yourself with this same phrase and tweet your scores @lhsbudget.
