From photos to dancing, your guide to prom

By Isis Carter

Prom is finally here, starting at 9 p.m and lasting until 11 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the KU Ballroom.

Seniors and their guests will enjoy the Great Gatsby-themed scenery and will dance until their feet hurt.

This year, the goal is simple. As junior Stefan Petrovic said, he wants, “to make sure no one dies, everything goes off without a hitch, make sure everyone has fun, and the most important thing is that everyone is enjoying themselves.”

While Petrovic and other staff and StuCo members work to make sure prom is a night to remember, I will make sure you are prepared for that night.

First I will help you with your dance moves. These are completely simple and after a couple of tries you will be a pro at no time. Most of these dances include the nae-nae, the whip, the whip and the nae-nae combined, and if you’re already ready for college you can learn how to shimmy. Enjoy.

Now that you have learned to do some crazy dance moves you need to know where to eat and take pictures. Below is a map of amazing places to eat and places to go. These locations are considerably cheap, time-saving and easy to go to.

Remember to stay safe on prom night. Do not drive while under the influence. If you want to go to a party afterward, you can enjoy LHS after prom which will be…right after prom at school. There will be an abundance of food, and the best part is: ALL THAT FOOD IS FREE!

But most importantly, as Petrovic said: “ A safe prom night is a recipe for a healthy future and being alive.”
