Student who brought gun to LHS in February convicted

The student who brought a handgun to school on February 12 has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime, according to the Lawrence Journal World.

He is no longer in police custody, but is still enrolled at LHS.

The student was charged with criminal use of weapons while under the age of 18, and also felony theft, as he allegedly stole the gun from his mother.

The gun, which was found on his person, was loaded with a magazine, but without a round in the chamber, as reported by the LJWorld.

His sentencing will take place July 3.
