Film students today premiered the Homecoming video — a project they say is unique to all others before it.

“Personally, I think it’s better because it’s meant to highlight the candidates, instead of show them only as a group,” senior Clara Cobb said. “They each have some great moments.”

Film students decided to do a take off of the TV show “The Office.”

“It was 100 percent us,”  senior Jack Rischer said. “The new film teacher Mr. [Jeff] Dickson is great, and he let us decide what we wanted to do.”

When film teacher Jeff Kuhr left LHS in May, some questioned if the film classes would be the same. Dickson now teaches the advanced film class, and Tim Sostarich teaches the intro classes.

“Mr. Kuhr was definitely one of the best teachers at LHS,” Rischer said. “It was a big loss when he left. I cried a little.”

Despite the changes, Dickson has been met with accolades by students.

“I think he’s fantastic,” Cobb said. “He’s really supportive of all the students and has played a huge part in helping work on assignments and think through projects. I’m impressed by how much he does.”

Imitating the Emmy-nominated show was a heavy task for the film students, who created situations reminiscent of the popular show that aired from 2005 to 2013.

“We handed out a survey where people marked what character from the show they were most like,” senior Sean McClaskey said.

Film students said their challenge was made easier by the candidates involved.

“The candidates were really easy to work with,” Cobb said.

When asked what the easiest part of filming was, Rischer replied, “working with Chris Greenfield.”

Now that the video has been shown and the lights have dimmed, film students have been able to enjoy the results of their work.

“We didn’t really face any challenges,” McClaskey said. “We just did everything together.”
