This week’s “Style Spotlight” is on junior Mikhayla Sheeley. In this outfit from Thurs., Sept. 12, Mikhayla celebrates her birthday in style with her accessorized outfit.

She has chosen a statement necklace that adds her own personal flair, while still staying trendy. Although she has chosen a muted color palette for this look, she is still representing her daily style.

“[Statement necklaces] are more unique,” Sheeley said. “When you have a simply necklace, a lot of them can look similar.”

Sheeley appreciates the extra touch this accessory adds to an otherwise simple dress.

“If you have a simple top, [a statement necklace] can really add some pizazz,” Sheeley said.

Ever since Balenciaga introduced this fall trend in its Fall 2008 fashion show, this trend has consistently been popping up for this season.

But whether you are looking to take a bold look one step further or simply to add spice to the basic jeans and a t-shirt, the statement necklace is certainly a fun trend to try out this season.
