Monday, Oct. 3

Girls Varsity Golf plays at 1 p.m. at Tomahawk Hills Golf course against Gardner Edgerton, Free State, Olathe North, Olathe Northwest, Olathe South, Olathe West, Shawnee Mission North and Shawnee Mission South.

JV Football is competing against Shawnee Mission North at 5:30 p.m. at the SM North Stadium.

Fellowship of Christian Students meets 3:15-4 p.m. in Room 162. For students interested in building caring friendships, strengthening their faith and praying for our school. See Ms. Reimers if you have questions.

Wrestling preseason workouts. Workouts will take place 3:30-5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Meet in the West Gym Lobby. Preseason workouts continue through Oct. 28.

Tuesday, Oct. 4

JV Girls Golf competes at 1 p.m. at Tomahawk Hills Golf course against Blue Valley West, Gardner Edgerton, Free State, Mill Valley, Olathe East, Olathe North, Olathe Northwest, Olathe South, Shawnee Mission East, Shawnee Mission North, Shawnee Mission Northwest and Shawnee Mission West.

JV Boys Soccer plays Shawnee Mission Northwest at 5 p.m. at the Shawnee Mission Soccer Complex.

Freshman and JV Volleyball face Shawnee Mission North at 5 p.m. in the LHS main gym.

JV Gymnastics takes on Shawnee Mission South at 5:30 p.m. at Shawnee Mission South.

Gymnastics Varsity vs. Emporia, Lawrence Free State, Newton Shawnee Mission- East, Shawnee Mission-West at 5:30p.m. at Shawnee Mission South high school.

Varsity and C-Team compete against Shawnee Mission North at 6 p.m. in the LHS main gym.

Volleyball Varsity vs. Shawnee Mission-North at 6p.m. at the LHS (east) main gym. It’s senior night.

Boys Soccer Varsity plays Shawnee Mission Northwest at 7 p.m. at the Shawnee Mission Soccer Complex.

Chesty Academy After School Tutoring takes place 3:15-5p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday in Ms. Henry’s room (Room 212).

International Club meets at 3:30p.m. in Room 257.

Open Mic performances will take place after school in the library for anyone with a talent to share.

Wednesday, Oct. 5

LHS Photo Retakes will be 7:45 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Check your email for a photo time if you didn’t have your photo taken in August. If you need to schedule a retake, sign up for a time here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0a4ba4ab2aa57-lawrence

Volleyball C- and freshmen teams play at Free State at 5 p.m. in a triangular that includes Shawnee Mission West.

Intertribal Tribal meets at 1:45 p.m. in Room 350.

Black Student Union will meet from 1:45-2:45p.m. in the cafeteria. Snacks will be provided.

Unity Step Team practices at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The group is taking on new members. To join, sign up in Room 281.

Freshmen Boys Baseball meeting is planned for 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 5 in Room 222 for any freshmen boys interested in trying out for baseball this spring.

Book Club meets after school in room Room 217 (Ms. Johnson’s room). For students who love to read and join others for interesting conversations about books.

Gymnastics competes at 5:30 p.m. at the Mill Creek Learning Center in Olathe against Olathe East, Olathe North, Olathe Northwest, Olathe South, Shawnee Mission North, Shawnee Mission Northwest and Free State.

Boys Soccer C-Team plays Shawnee Mission West at 6 p.m. at the Shawnee Mission Soccer Complex.

Softball player information meeting for players and parents will be at 6 p.m. on Oct. 5 in the cafeteria. New Head Coach Mike Byrn will talk about the player expectations, team philosophy and the spring 2023 season.

Thursday, Oct. 6

Magic Club meets Thursday after school, 3:10-4 p.m. in Room 346. In Magic Club, we play Magic the Gathering, as well as other trading card games like Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon.

Philosophy Club meeting at 3:15-4p.m. in Room 211.

Friday, Oct. 7

Girls Tennis Varsity plays Free State at 9 a.m. at the Jayhawk Tennis Center at Rock Chalk Park.

Boys Soccer C-Team plays Piper High School at 6:30 p.m. at the LHS Soccer Stadium.

Varsity Football plays Gardner Edgerton at 7 p.m. at Gardner Edgerton High School.

Saturday, Oct. 8

Volleyball C-Team competes at Olathe East high school at 8 a.m. against Gardner Edgerton, Lawrence Free State, Mill Valley, Olathe North, Olathe Northwest, Olathe South, Olathe West, Shawnee Mission East, Shawnee Mission North, Shawnee Mission Northwest, Shawnee Mission South and Shawnee Mission West.

Freshman Volleyball plays Shawnee Mission West at 8 a.m. at West

Cross Country runs at Haskell University at 9 a.m.

JV Girls Tennis plays Shawnee Mission South at 9 a.m. at Shawnee Mission South.

Sunday, Oct. 9

Gymnastics competes against Free State at 9:30 a.m. at Rock Chalk Park/Sports Pavilion.

Information you need to know

Hispanic Heritage Month began on Sept. 15 and extends to Oct. 15. It marks the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

Pick up badges in Students Services for students in ninth grade and other students new to LHS.

Coming up

Nov. 7 is the forms deadline for submitting winter sports forms online. All required forms are submitted at www.registermyathlete.com or RMA. Forms must be submitted and approved on RMA to participate in tryouts or practices. Winter sports are basketball, bowling, boys swim/dive and wrestling.

Wrestling team members meet at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 11 in the Project Center. Meeting is for students interested in girls or boys wrestling.
