Several swimmers dropped seconds off of their times and the team qualified more swimmers for State, as Lawrence High finished 7th at the Sunflower League swim meet over the weekend. This was the last meet where swimmers could qualify for State which is Feb. 19-20 in Topeka at the Hummer Sports Park.
Sophomore Zach Andregg paced the Lions with two top three finishes, placing third in the 200 freestyle and second in the 500 freestyle. Andregg also swam with 400 freestyle relay team alongside of senior Kyler Thomann and freshman Adam Edmonds and Nathan Evers that took sixth at the event and also qualified for State.
Edmonds and Evers also qualified individually with Edmonds reaching his time in the 100 backstroke and Evers in the 100 butterfly.
The Lions 200 freestyle relay team also made it into the field.
State competition starts on Feb. 19 and runs through Feb. 20 at the Hummer Sports Park in Topeka.
