The current seminar system needs some construction to make it more effective.

   Under the current system students are only allowed two chances to visit teachers each day. In order to allow students to travel between more than two teachers per seminar, there should be passing periods during seminar so that students can visit up to four teachers.

   Under the old seminar system that was in place a few years ago, students were allowed to come and go as they pleased during seminar, and there were no restricted travel limits.

   This is a great idea if students would take the time seriously to work on homework and visit their teachers to receive help in the classes they are struggling in. However,  it was ineffective because students would often skip seminar or abuse the travel rules and just roam the halls.

   The administration wanted to keep kids out of the hallways during seminar, so they came up with the current policy.

   While effective in controlling kids in the hall, the current policy is not very effective at administering the original purpose of seminar, allowing students to receive help from their teachers or make up missing class work.

   Seminar is designed to help students improve their grades and get help for classes that they are struggling with. If students are struggling in more than two classes, then the current system does not allow them to receive help from all their teachers, but only a couple of them. Most students have 6 and 7 classes so having 4 seminar periods over a two day span does allow them to visit all of their teachers.

    With minor changes, the current system could be very effective. Since some students might not need the entire 40 minutes to take that five question quiz or talk to their teacher about the assignments they missed last week. Adding two bells and having four passing periods (one every 20 minutes) would allow students to receive help from more than two teachers, and this policy would keep the hallways under control.

   By not showing up to seminar, past students forced the administration to implement this policy. So if the policy is going to be changed, students are going to have to help prove to the administration that we can handle more freedom during seminar. Show up to seminar and do your work like it was designed and give the administration reason to alter with the current system.
