Due to FERPA laws, only the following information can be revealed:

A Lawrence High student texted another student’s mom using the other student’s phone saying that the kid was in danger of being shot. He meant it to be a joke.

The phone owner, not wanting to worry his mother, tried to text her during class to tell her it was a joke; however, a teacher confiscated his phone.

The phone owner’s mother called 911, and the Lawrence Police Department arrived at Lawrence High promptly.

Adminsitrators would like students to know that there was no real threat, and that the boy who sent the prank text is being dealt with.
