LINK Orientation09

Four hundred and seventy two nervous freshmen shuffled into the LHS gymnasium on August 14 for their first day of school two weeks ago. The crisp smell of back to school clothing, packed lunches, and way too much cologne filled the air. One hundred and eighteen boisterous upperclassmen of LINK crew welcomed the new freshman class with open arms and a day filled with get-to-know-you games.

“The purpose of LINK Crew is to make connections between incoming students and the school, and other students,” LINK crew founder and co-coordinator, Diane Ash said. “We all have our fears and anxieties and insecurities, but inside everyone of those students is someone that deserves the chance to connect to their new school.”

The four LINK crew coordinators, Diane Ash, Valerie Schrag, Michael Dudley, and Lydia Reimers, helped the day run without a hitch. Now, thanks to the help of the coordinators and the LINK crew leaders, the large freshman class have figured out how to navigate the school, made new friends, and adjusted to the everyday routine at LHS.
