PHOTOS: Lions fall to Firebirds

The Lions lost to their cross-town rivals last Friday, Oct. 21 in a football showdown against Free State High School.

LHS and Free State both had records of 5-2 before the game. Losing the game 56-7, many players and fans were disappointed in the Lions’ performance.

Senior offensive lineman Kobe Buffalomeat said he would’ve changed how the team prepared for the game against Free State as well as the plays themselves. They shouldn’t have started the game with a pick-six, as it changed the direction of the entire game, he said.

“[I would’ve changed the game by] getting more prepared on how they like to play and adjust to things on the fly,” Buffalomeat said.

The Lions (now 5-3) face Blue Valley West (2-6) in the playoffs at 7 p.m. this Friday at LHS. See a bracket for the playoffs and team records on maxpreps.com.

“Playoffs are next,” Buffalomeat said. “It’s a home game. We will have a chip on our shoulder and be ready to come out and play.”
